Ferromagnetic Experiments

The main aim was to make the invisible magnetic fields visible and to freeze it. The maximum height of the sculptures was reached by 10 cm.

Material Research

Our research had two main goals: first to gain height and secondly to harden quickly. Following this targets we made several material tests with various hardeners (wood glue, acrylic, gypsum, resin, caramel etc.). Using resin we were able to produce the highest objects, but it took much too long to harden. Caramel in contrast hardens very quickly but is very rough and unstable at the other hand, which lead to early braking structures.

REX LAB

Looking at the results of material research we decided to create prototypes on the plane and create reliefs using iron powder and caramel. The only problem was, that caramel is very rough and breaks easily. So we made various prototypes (Plast, wax) to find a resilient material hardening quickly.
